A windy day for a sea swim on the beautiful East Lothian coast with a good friend. Buckthorn & Salt tells the story of autumn, and also of my own undignified attempt to change out of my wet clothes, praying for the dog walkers to keep away. The buckthorn was in its glory, coated in bright orange berries, and the sky was filled with skeins of geese on the move, marking the shifting season and the turning of the year.
Days later, walking alone through the beautiful glens of Angus, this image arrived fully formed in my mind as a memory of a wonderful day.
