Comfort Blanket
A commission celebrating gentle, homely love, and, the comfort of your wingman/sibling.
Making Comfort Blanket was a lovely process: to design a print as a birthday gift using only two blocks but showing two very differently coloured cats. I love a challenge, and quickly had my colour palette and composition nailed down. The two cats in this print are siblings, and the blanket is what they sleep on.
The brief
A birthday gift of a multiblock two layer print showing the recipient’s two cats and a favourite blanket of theirs.
This was a wonderful collaboration between myself and my client, as we understood one another and I hit the right image straight away. Once I’d worked out the colours of the two blocks to create both a ginger and white cat and a black cat, I was off, carving away. I sent my client regular progress updates (as I always do for a commission piece) and they were happy all the way through a joyously straightforward commission. The hardest part was having to keep it under wraps until the recipient had been gifted, around two months after the whole process began.
