Venetian Holiday
A recent commission, Venetian Holiday is a two block print produced in an exclusive edition of 1/1. It was a special gift for a special birthday, and my first foray into producing work based on a time and place I had no direct experience of (I have been to Venice, but when I was there it rained so much the canals had all flooded and I went paddling in Piazza San Marco). My client gave me a series of photographs to start with, and we worked from there to come up with a design which tied in all the elements and created the right feel.
Armed with a steady conversation with my client, and a series of photographs they provided, I set out to produce a print which would capture the essence of their trip. I even managed to place their ginger cat into the scene.
